The 2010 IDHSNA annual show committee is excited to announce that the schedule for the 2010 IDHSNA Annual show has been finalized and the date(s) and location set, September 23-26, 2010, at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia. This show offers an expanded class list, new champsionship opportunities and a fabulous facility.

DEFINITIONS & DESCRIPTIONS:

Bonnie Belle Supreme Memorial Breeders' Championship Class Description: The purpose of the Breeders' Championship is to reward excellence in the selection of breeding stock, and to reward good breeding decisions as evidenced by the quality of the foal. The format of the class will be similar to the other breed classes except mares and foals will be judged as a pair (50% percent for the mare and 50% for the foal).
Judging: The winning mare and foal will BOTH exhibit correct conformation and movement, breed type appropriate to the percentage of Irish Draught blood in the mare and the foal, quality, presence, and clear evidence of Irish Draught ancestry.

Baby Green Hunters - must be in their first or second year of showing and jump eight fences set at a maximum height 2”.
- Pleasure Command - commands for walk, trot, canter, hand gallop, halt, back, etc. are called. Horses that are not as quick to respond will be called into the center of the ring, leaving those still in the running out on the circle.
- Hunter Pairs Hack - open to pairs of horses which match in color, height, etc. They will be asked to perform side-by-side at a walk, trot, canter, etc. Individual horses within the pair can participate in more than one pair.
- Hunter Pairs Over Fences - open to pairs of horses which match in color, height, etc. They will be asked to jump two fences down one side with one horse in front, jump a fence in the center side-by-side, and then finish by jumping two fences down the other side with the horse that was originally following in the lead. Individual horses within the pair can participate in more than one pair.
- Low Hunter Horses – must be able to jump a regular hunter course set at a maximum height 3’.
- Handy Hunter Horses - must be able to jump a regular hunter course set at a maximum height of 3’3” and will be ask to demonstrate field hunter skills (i.e., open/close gate, drop pole, rein back, lead over a fence, etc. Note that one fence will be at the discretion of the rider on how to accomplish to best demonstrate their horse’s suitability as a field hunter.
- Purebred/Partbred Irish Hunter Horses – suitable to be shown under saddle at a walk, trot, canter, and hand gallop in both directions of the ring. A riding judge will mount and ride each horse. The horses may have their saddles removed and then set up and shown in hand at the walk and trot for the conformation portion of the class.
- Puddle Jumpers - must be in their first or second year of showing and able to jump eight fences at a maximum height of 2’.
- Baby Jumpers – may not have won a division championship at 2'6" and able to jump a regular jumper course at a maximum height of 2’6”.
- Level One Jumpers – must jump a regular jumper course set at a maximum height of 2’11”.
- Level Two Jumpers - must jump a regular jumper course set at a maximum height of 3’3".
- evel Three Jumpers - must jump a regular jumper course set at a maximum height of 3’6”.
- Level Four Jumpers - must jump a regular jumper course set at a maximum height of 3’9”.

HOTELS/CAMPING:
The IDHSNA 2010 Annual Show Committee has a block of rooms set aside at the following hotels. We are asking members to try fill the block of rooms at the Comfort Inn - Lexington first so that we have the comp rooms for the Judges from Ireland and then the Best Western - Lexington Inn second so that we have the comp room for the Show Photographers. Our contracts provide for a check in date of 22 September 2010 and a check out date of 26 September 2010, however, if you need to contact the hotel and modify either date that is fine. Any rooms not booked by 22 August 2010 will be released to the general public. These hotels do except pets at $25.00 per stay, per pet. Please note that if you need to cancel your individual room they must be cancelled 24 hours in advance of your arrival time so as not to be charge for one night stay and tax. When you contact the hotel(s) to book rooms please let them know that you would like the rooms set aside for the Irish Draught Horse Show. Note that our contract with the VHC allows for exhibitors to arrive beginning at 8 am on Wednesday, 22 September 2010. Exhibitors will be allowed to school and use the rings set aside for our show on arrival day, as long as they are not being set up for next day classes.
The Virginia Horse Center has 94 camper spaces available with 30/50 amp electric hookups and water. Camping is $30.00 per night (plus tax) payable to the Virginia Horse Center Welcome Center/Stable Office upon arrival. Reservations can be made online at www.horsecenter.org under the facilities link. Selection of reserved site is first-come, first-served upon arrival. Camping without reservations will be permitted if there are vacancies. Questions can be directed to stableoffice@horsecenter.org or 540-464-2966. Self-contained campers and tents will be charged a $20.00 grounds fee at the Welcome Center. There are 7 to 10 showers available for use in the East Complex and one handicapped shower.
